Welcome

Hello, and welcome to the official webpage of the Robo-Lions and the home of the new robot, John Mayo, Jr. The Robo-Lions are the one and only robotics team of Liberty High School and a proud member of the Baltimore Area Alliance. The Robo-Lions were formed last fall and have already become one of LHS's premier and most active after school programs. Meeting three times a week on average the robotics team works hard to build a fully functional robot to compete in the US FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) competition.
Check out the rough plan for the robot this year. Also, you can view this year's early brainstorming ideas (Microsoft Word Format).

Overdrive

The 2008 FRC game the Robolions will be competing in is FIRST Overdrive. Similar to Rollerderby, the game encourages speed and manipulator operation in order to move around a track and control a large trackball. More details can be found at Chief Delphi and on NASA's Webcast. The Robolions had lengthy meetings discussing the game both the Saturday and Sunday following the kickoff. Details of these discussions can be found on a word document hosted on our website. The general conclusion was for a quick robot that could handle the trackballs, but not necessarily lift them onto the overhead. Soon to come are a documentary style film about the team's past and present made by members of the PR division of the team, and podcasts discussing the team and its current work. We hope these additions will bring awareness to the team and offer a fun and quick way to learn about the team for anyone interested. As always, thanks to all our sponsors for making this year possible and thank you to FIRST for hosting the competition.

The 2007-2008 Season

After much planning and effort, the Robo-Lions secured their spot in the 2007-2008 FRC event. Thanks to a Second Year Program Growth Grant for the entry fee, we will be once again attending the Chesapeake regional. Chesapeake is confirmed as the Robo-Lions home regional. Thanks to NASA for awarding us the grant in this amazingly competitive season, and all of our sponsors in their efforts in getting the Robo-lions to where they are today. Without your support, we would never be able to have come as far as we have and to continue growing. Thank you all once again.

Robotics Over The Summer

Despite the school year being over, the Robolions will still be working. Starting early in July, summer meetings will commence to prepare for the Battle O Baltimore. This is an off-season competition sponsered by the Baltimore Area Alliance, an organization of FRC teams in the Baltimore area. The team is eagerly awaiting the competition.

Along with this, we will be visiting our sponsors with Thank Yous. Without their wonderful support, we would not have gotten as far as we did. Anyone interested in hearing about sponsorship opportunities should please contact the team at libertyhighrobotics@gmail.com. We are always looking for new sponsors.

We have also updated the media section with pictures from the competition. They give a good insight into the environment of the competition and the team as a whole.
